Päivi Hutukka’s question:
Here are some suggestions:
a. be yourself. No pretending. No striving to impress.
b. fully accept / acknowledge just how wonderful you are IE unconditionally love who you are. This is not an ego trip. Just full and total acceptance. Doing this puts you in your power.
c. deeply imagine (feel it in your heart; body; mind) that you have a very positive relating with the person interviewing you. Practice this just before going to sleep and on waking because your sub-conscious is very open at these times. See yourselves connecting, emotionally, mentally and inspirationally.
d. deeply imagine that the job IS ALREADY YOURS. View my Youtube 4 min video

It is a fascinating story about a man who was too old, without the required education and without the “right” previous work experience who “got the job” and the other applicants were not even interviewed.
e. Note: It is not about the job. It is what extra you bring to the job. What is the unique or special value you can create for your would-be employer? What is their big problem you can solve? How can you take their organisation forward? You need to do your “home work”. Study the company. Talk to their employees and former employees. Talk to their customers and suppliers. Do your research. Most other applicants won’t bother. Know their vision, mission, values and strategy. Be very sure that this “is the right company for you”. Once you have decided that it is, then you decide that the job is yours and the interview you will have is for you to find out more about the company and job and for them to confirm YOUR choice.
Once you are clear about the “unique or special value” you will create, prepare a one page presentation setting out what that is (just as you heard in my Youtube video) and present it at the interview. I guarantee THIS WILL SET YOU APART FROM THE OTHER CANDIDATES. Their thinking and approach is they want something (a job) from the company. That automatically places them in a weak position. You come with the approach that you have something of value to bring to the company.
Promise me…. as soon as they confirm your decision that that job is yours, you email me to tell me E: chris@chrisevatt.com Or post a message on my Facebook Christopher Gordon Evatt
